Friday, 3 April  -  Leave US and travel overnight.

Saturday, 4 April -  Arrive in Amsterdam.  

  • Go to Airbnb. 
  • Trip to market.
Sunday, 5 April - Jordaan Walk

  • Morning:  Begin walk in Dam Square.  Tour Royal Residence.
  • Afternoon:  Rick Steve's Audio Tour of Jordaan.  Visit Westerkerk Church
  • 3pm:  Anne Frank House
  • Evening:  Stroll Prinsengracht street
  • 6:00:  Hard Rock Cafe
  • Walk to Dock in front of Rijksmuseum
  • 7:45 Sunset Cruise
Monday, 6 April - Art Day
  • Morning: Take an optional early morning walk with Rick Steves' Amsterdam audiotour.
  • 9am:  Meet at the Rijksmuseum and spend the morning at this world renowned museum.
  • Have lunch and enjoy strolling or bicycling through Vondelpark 
  • 2:30 We get to visit the largest collection of Vincent VanGogh's art at the VanGogh museum.
  • At 4:30, we find ourselves at the Heineken Experience Tour and spend a bit at the end enjoying a couple of beers and the beautiful view from the Heineken rooftop. 
  • Ready for a great meal with a beautiful view?  We go to the Doubletree, 11th floor restaurant for some fine dining.  (7:00 Reservations for dinner at Luminair - Double Tree by Hilton 11th floor).
Tuesday, 7 April - 
  • Free morning... but here's Lynne's plan:  Red Light District walking tour, then check out the hidden church Our Lord in the Attic, then walk through Chinatown.
  • Meet around noon at the Rembrandt House, and hear about the life of the artist.
  • After, we visit the oldest courtyard in Amsterdam and the churches there.
  • We can take a break, do some shopping, eating, drinking one of Amsterdam's large markets
  • Spend the evening in the Moco, Museum of Modern Art. 
Wednesday, 8 April -
  • Head to the airport to grab a rental car for our road trip.
  • Go to a renovated castle that boasts the most luxurious interior in the Netherlands.  Tour the home, try to find our way through the maze gardens and enjoy the deer park.
  • Enjoy lunch on the road or in Rotterdam.
  • Go to the Dutch Pinball Museum OR
  • Take a walking tour through Delfshaven, one of the few cities in the Netherlands untouched by World War II bombings.
  • Take in a few of the sights of Rotterdam and head to the Hague.  Check into our lodging for the next few days in the Hague.
Thursday, 9 April - 
  • Morning: Drive to Delft, a city full of gorgeous Art Nouveau/Art Deco architecture from the 1920s and 1930s. There are plenty of sights to enjoy.
  • Tour the Delft Factory, where blue pottery has been made for 400 years.
  • Grab a light lunch and drive back to the Hague.
  • Go to the Louwman Car Museum to see the largest (almost 300 cars) and oldest private automobile collection in the world.
  • After, we can have dinner at:
    • The Penthouse Restaurant Sky Bar (City Centre): Located at the top of The Hague Tower (Rijswijkseplein 786), offering panoramic views from the highest restaurant in the Netherlands.
    • Drive out a few minutes to the beach for a sunset dinner. Scheveningen harbor offers premier, west-facing, water-view dining. Top spots include Catch by Simonis for upscale seafood, Lemongrass for French-inspired cuisine, and Wine & Seafoodbar AREIA.
Friday, 10 April - 
  • Morning (9:30 AM): Explore the Political Heart of the Netherlands, beginning at the Binnenhof (Inner Court), the center of Dutch politics. Take a walk around the picturesque Hofvijver lake.
  • Consider a guided tour to see the Ridderzaal (Hall of Knights) and learn about the government.
  • Late Morning (11:30 AM): Head to the nearby Mauritshuis to view Dutch Masterpieces, including Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring and Rembrandt's The Anatomy Lesson.
  • Check out The Passage Grab, the country's oldest shopping arcade, known for its architecture and various dining options.
  • Walk to the iconic Peace Palace, which houses the International Court of Justice. The building is typically closed to most visitors, but we can visit the visitor center.
  • If we didn't go to the beach the previous night, we might want to go this evening. Take a tram (lines 9, 11, or 17) to Scheveningen Beach and enjoy one of the many beachside bistros.  Stroll along the boulevard and the famous Pier, which features a Ferris wheel and other attractions.
  • Evening (6:30 PM): Dinner with a View Enjoy dinner at a restaurant overlooking the North Sea before heading back to the city center.

Saturday, 11 April - 
  • Check out of our lodging early.
  • Drive to and spend the morning at the tulip festival at Keukenhof Gardens
  • Drive to and spend the afternoon at the windmill village of Zaanss Schans
  • Check into airport hotel and drop off bags
  • Return rental car at airport
  • Lynne needs to pack for journey home.
Sunday, 12 April
  • Lynne leaves for the states.  Has to be at the airport by 11:30.
  • Free day for everyone in Amsterdam.
