  • If you're visiting the Netherlands on a budget, here are 5 FREE things to do in Rotterdam:
    1. Admire the Cube Houses
Wander around and take photos of Rotterdam’s most iconic buildings.
    2. Check out the street art in the city centre
Rotterdam is packed with incredible murals, especially along Witte de Withstraat.
    3. Visit the historic Delfshaven
One of the few parts of the city that survived WWII bombings with picture-perfect historical buildings.
    4. Visit a museum for free
Some museums in Rotterdam offer free entry (even if it's just on certain days).
    5. Window shop at the Markthal
Even if you don’t buy anything, the building itself is worth seeing. Don't miss the impressive (and very colourful) ceiling!
  • Muiderslot Castle is one of the oldest and best-preserved castles in the Netherlands. Built in 1285, complete with towers, a moat and a drawbridge, it looks like something straight out of a fairytale!
It takes about 60-80 minutes to get here from Amsterdam via public transport and 30 minutes in a car (depending on your route), but it's SO worth the journey. I spent hours exploring and taking in the scenery.
